Welcome to Deerfield Elementary School

Deerfield Elementary School is part of a great community in Edgewood, MD. The school services a little over 760 students, pre-k to 5th grade. The students, parents, teachers, and staff are wonderful as this community works together. The staff here is committed to helping students achieve academically and socially, so students can reach their potential in life. We are proud to be a Title I school. We have funding to support extra specialist positions and materials for instruction. We are one of 9 Title I schools in the county.

We have been a PBIS gold school. With Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports we expect students to try their best, while being respectful, and having fun. We have 5 rules called the Deerfield 5 that students can follow. Our teachers use Class Dojo for positive feedback to students and to enhance communication with our families.

At Deerfield we follow a rigorous curriculum for all subject areas. The Maryland College and Career-Ready standards are at the forefront of our planning and instruction. Integration of technology is extremely important as well. Students are exposed to, or using technology on a daily basis. We are fortunate to have a large computer lab, wireless access, Smart Boards in every room, a high-tech TV studio, and laptops for our students. We have the YMCA on site for before and afterschool care as well.

The faculty and staff of Deerfield Elementary School are committed to providing students with a safe environment and a quality learning experience. “We Aspire to Inspire” at Deerfield Elementary!

Sincerely,

Gregory Lane
Principal
